On a C4 LT1, how much should l expect to pay for a tune up, my vette has 44k.

The previous owner ran out of money so he did nothing but put gas into it, this is my guess.

l was going to have all fluid levels checked and probably replace and check all belts and hoses. l also noticed that where the hood close's there is no grease of any kind where the guide pin of the hood locks into the fender.

Thanks

p.s. l almost forgot, what about the rear end and tranny.

The car runs strong and there is no indications of any kind of problems.

I think the going rate for a good Corvette mechanic is somewhere in the neighborhood of around seventy-five dollars an hour. We have a few here, give it some time and you'll get some more repsonse. The key is finding a reputable and reliable mechanic in which you can trust your Corvette.

If you are capable of performing the routine maintenance duties on your own, not only will you save much money, but you will have the reward of knowing the job was done right, and that it was done to your satisfaction. The Corvette is really no more mysterious than any other performance vehicle, it's just that parts are more costly because of the nameplate. :L

Just be sure to have the correct service manual for your particular vehicle if you do attempt your own maintenance or repairs. And remember, SAFETY FIRST! ;)

Good luck! :CAC

Ken,

That is sad but true:cry

Buy the vette manual....and do it yourself......after all whom do you trust more....a mechanic...or yourself.....Its really not that hard for the average guy...like us to do.....at least try it......I did...and I'm not that sharp....but my vette is running great....I said GREAT.....
Don't let your self down...you can do it...trust me.....

parts alone is over 300 dollars.

a good shop will do everything including trans filter and fluid change for an auto for about 100 bucks.

well worth it though.

Important thing:

You have to get yourself a pair of Rhino Ramps! They're extremely useful and I feel safe using them.

Another thing is to get a high quality jack and jackstands. Those are a must.

Major Tune Up!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, but the weather here in the North East is not fit for a dog, and l do not have a heated garage.
l will have the first check-up done by a shop and this summer when it's warm enough l will have a go at it.

About a month ago I had my LT4 tuned up. New plugs and wires, belts, hoses, Flushed cooling system, New stat., Oil, all of the vacuum lines replaced, whell balanced and rotated and a few other lillte things. The bill was $890.
