Pulled my heater box so I could change out the heater core... Take a look at this Solder Job Bubba did..:L . I guess he wanted to make sure it didn't leak. Well it's a good thing I pulled it out. It was just starting to weep.

Bubba...He is the man when it comes to short cut's..!!;LOL

And using 50 weight motor oil in the winter gives you better oil pressure which helps prevents over heating.....:D

I have a heater story of my own. I noticed when I was reinstalling my instrument cluster on my '60 that I did not have any duct connecting to my defroster diffuser. So I ordered some and when it came in I connected it to the diffuser. fished it to the passenger side and WTF????? No defroster box! Just the heater blower motor which was thankfully new and appears to be the right one. I've had the car a year and haven't had it out in weather that would require a defroster yet but I'll get one anyway just in case. :eyerole

Mark -- you know what is crazy about this --- the previous owner had to go through all the trouble that is involved in removing that heater core to apply his patented fix.

:bash

You Know John.....That is the point here ...Your right on..!! I think every one else here has the same thoughts. It's just plain stupid to do what they did.!!!

Why not just put a new unit in???

But..that's what makes this a fun hobby....finding and fixing all the gack that Bubba does. Stilll Bubba can Pi_s you off..!!!
