I have a 50th edition 6 speed. At low speeds under load the car makes a metalic rattling sound which I beleive come from the transmission. The dealer says "they all do that". The car has done it since it was new and only has 12,000 miles now. Should I insist on getting this repaired before the warranty runs out?

This is normal and typical of all C5 6-speed cars. The owners video actually mentions this rattle to inform the customer that it is normal and not to be alarmed.

Enjoy your car! :)

Not only do the C5's do it, but the Camaros, TransAm's, C4's and anything else they but a T56 in....don't worry about it and enjoy it!!!

You may also notice a "can of marbles" sound while stationary in neutral with the clutch out. This is also normal. The Corvette gears are cut with a design that maximizes strength, but it comes at a cost of being noisy. There is also not as much sound insulation in the 'Vette as in many other cars.

I thought the noise was a characterstic of the torque tube. So this wouldn't be the case with LS1 F-bodies and the C4 didn't have a Tremec transmission, but a ZF transmission. My C4 never made this sound.
