Anyone ever have their master rebuit? Advantages/disadvantages to having ss inserts?
Corvette Central offers a rebuild, hoping to here about experiences with them or others, thanks.

I put a rebuild kit from NAPA in my '59 master cylinder in 1971. it's still holding. I just honed it lightly with a wheel cylinder hone. If yours is badly pitted or scored then sleeving is the way to go.

I used white post restorations
http://www.whitepost.com/

They had a real quick turn around, there was a post on the N.C.R.S web site about the advantagages of brass over stainless last year you might want to check the archives over there.

Thanks for the excellent info, guys.

WayneC and IH2LOSE. great references, I will check out both.
IH2LOSE, I went to the NCRS site, registered my profile, and started searching for the brass/stainless steel insert info. There's over 1550 messages relating to the topic, so I'm gonna have to surf my fingers off, but I'll get her done. Thanks for the referral to the site...great stuff there. So that's what my membership is good for!

Rememebr to save the....:w

Dennis,

Used White Post for my restoration and was less than satisfied! Have name of a dude in California that would be ideal for what you want to do. Will post when I get home, as that info is at home

Dennis that board is only a tiny portion of what our membership dues are for allthough a great place to go to aquire information its only a small portion of what the society is all about.

We as N.C.R.S members are all to often the brunt of some mean spirited jokes and wrong ideas of what the society and its members are all about.

Have a great day and I hope you found the information you needed

Dennis,

the dude's name in California is Robert Sweeting, phone number is 800-504-1060 and his email addy is:

POWERBRAKEBOB@MSN.COM

he works on all kinds of brake systems

Be prepared if you decide to buy one of the rebuild kits that they are 7/8" instead of 1" bore kits. Don't ask me why but every kit that my buddy and I bought whether it be from Zip or a couple different local auto part stores they were all for 7/8" bores... I decided that for 90 minus the discount I would buy a new one from Zip... It just depends if you want a new correct one or rebuild the original correct one that you have... Dave...
