I recently moved from the Seattle area to the Southern California Orange County area. I left one of the best mechanics I have ever known. (and a Corvette specialist at that) http://www.kirklandclassiccars.com/
I am now in need of a recommendation for a mechanic here in SoCal. Somewhere I can take the car and say "It just sounds funny" and they will fix it and be honest.

Also I have seen a lot of threads where someone asks for a mechanic around a certain area (looked for one for me, sorry if I missed an already answered question), but it seems that there should just be a thread with a list of recommended mechanics. I guess what I am saying is, if you can't help me with my Southern California recommendation but you know a good mechanic somewhere else just post them as well.

Thanks in advance for any help.

its been a while but heres who I used to know...

J&D Corvette in Bellflower. They make every vette body part there ever has been out of fiber glass and have an outstanding after market dept with restoration shop and general vette repairs. May be a little more on the high side but if its Corvette,...they have it. See Noe in service. He was the service guy for a long time..

In OC...
Santa Anna / Anaheim / Irvine

West Coast Corvette.

Corvette Mike

Not sure who's left in that area...

I know one to avoid up toward Pomona is Speed Merchant. Thief and a smart mouth SOB to boot.

I like his idea to have a place on CAC where we could look up recommended shops by State, that would be great but dont know how we could do that :ugh

The hackiest of ways would be just to have a pinned thread where everyone posts their recommendations.
A slightly less hacky way would be to have a pinned thread that is just a link to another web page containing a searchable and sortable database of recommendations along with some "agree with recommendation" / "disagree with recommendation" score.

boomdriver, thanks for the recommendations. And an even bigger thank you for the stay-away suggestion. I have actually heard bad things about the Corvette Mike here in Anaheim, but they were second hand.. Did you actually use these mechanics? Is this a first hand recommendation?
