Recently on my car I saw "Charge System Fault" in the DIC. When I looked up the DTC only B2605H was listed. According to the service manual all electric seat problems are set as H codes even if current. Looking on OBDII.com the specific problem is "Seat Front Vertical Position Sensor Failure/Aft Position Out of Range" I cleared the DTC and am waiting to see if it returns. Both seats appear to work correctly and travel through the full range of motion, forward/aft, up/down.

However, does anyone have an idea what may have caused the "Charge System Fault" to come on? I monitored the voltage on the DIC on my way home and it was in range of what I usually see 13.7-14.1 volts and the battery was at 12.2 after I got home and shut the engine down. It went down to 11.7 as I put the windows up but went right back to 12.2 after they were up and no load was on the battery.

HI there,
It is possible that you have a battery that has a standing voltage that is lower than what you may need. So, when the car actually starts, the PCM sees the lower voltage and sends the message.
Monitor the voltage when starting the vehicle and let us know what you have.

Probably a weak battery. 12.2 Volts is kinda low - you should be in the 13 - 14 range. I used to get the "Charge System Fault" error all the time with the stock battery - it was pretty weak. I've since put in an optima red top and the problem has mostly gone away. I still ocassionaly get this error when the car has been sitting for a week or more between drives, but I used to get it practically every time I started the car with the old battery. Luckily, the only time I go a week wothout driving the vette is when we're on vacation to a place you can't drive to.

If your battery is old, consider replacing it - the stock battery is relly weak considering the electrical load on these cars.

I checked the voltage this morning. It was 11.9 before starting and went down to 11.3 on start. Then it went to the normal operating range of ~14 as I drove to work.

The battery has already been replaced once under warranty a little over a year ago. The fault warning has only come on 3 or 4 times since I have owned the car.

I tightened the connections and monitored the battery voltage this weekend while driving through the Italian mountains. It stayed the same as what I had previously posted.

I'll take a look through my service manual to see what is involved in the battery test.
