messed up somewhere ?

the other day my car quit running ,and anyways i determined it was the ignition control module , well i replaced it , car started right up but now im having trouble with the trans shifting auto. each shift almost reaches the red line max and normal cruising 40 or 50mph its running at 4500 to 5500 rpm ive checked for any loose vauum lines what can i be missing ? the idle is fine oh 79 coupe l48

The 1/4" vacuum hose going to your transmission's modulator has become disconnected. Replace it with a piece of fuel line hose.

thanks for the reply checked everything from detent cable to modulator valve wound up being the valve .lines were fine

One thing I forgot to tell you was this: If you see any oil coming out of the modulator it's shot and needs to be replaced.
