But the package says that l should wash them first before l use them OK!!!

Can l just use woolite in a sink and wash all of them together and then let them air dry??

I also bought the applicator the one that looks like a sponge, do l have to wash this also?

Thanks

Alan

Call me crazy, I just throw them in the wash, use a small amount of laundry detergent and some fabric softner.

Also, I get my micro fiber towels at Costco. A big bag (a dozen or so) costs about 15 bucks.

I always watch when I buy microfiber towels whether they are "soft" enough. I will always take the clean cloths and wipe them on the backsides of new blank CD's, if they scratch the CD's well then they aren't touching the paint. I would just wash them in the wash by themselves and you should be fine.

i dont use fabric softener.

seem to streak or smear the next time I used em.. trashed those and never used fabric softener again.

no problems since

Friday I hope to detail the entire car.

Thanks

I will wash them tonight and air dry them for Friday. I'm really looking forward to it.

I agree if you use the liquid stuff. The sheets that you add to the dryer don't seem to be a problem.

Ready for air drying

Just wash them cold and will hang dry them. I only washed them because it was recommended.

Too anal for me!

Alan, you cut the stitching/ends off the towels too, right ? (One of the tips with my car care package i bought)

As to the applicator: I have, same thing as the towels, no detergent (and i do run them through the dryer, it fuzzes them out a bit (no end stitching), but hey)..

Let me get this straight !!

Hi

You want me to cut the ends off the micro towels,, the stitching is made out of silk, are you sure?

I just started a new thread in the detailing section on the use of micro and Zaino.

What's so confusing is that l hear so many different angles and l'm sure they all come out right or at least l would think so.

Thanks

Alan

Yep.. Sounds crazy doesn't it ? I resisted at first too. I read the Zaino tips thing 15 times.. Then plunked down a good chunk of money on 100% pure, American made towels, to cut off the ends.. :eek

I thought of it this way (and others might disagree): The stitching might (!!) put swirls and fine scratches in there (as per Zaino man), and as i have no clue about car & detailing in particular and it was the first time. Snip they went.. Now i have a bunch of very white, expensive, 100% American made, very frayed, car towels and a very nice detailed car (well, when i did it 2 years ago).. Re-read the tips that Zaino man put in his tips & tricks..

I agree with you on the different angles !! I am usually not into care & detailing too much (it's a car after all), but in prep for CF 1, i wanted to show off. I had a lot of very nice comments (and i was mighty impressed too).

see this one (and i revert on my previous no detergent, it must have been liquid, following the doctors orders.. ;) )

Mine came with instructions that said they should be washed seperately from regular cotton towels, or any other laundry, and NO fabric softener. Have done mine several times now with good results.
