Im on the search for a midyear hardtop and have heard that there are differences in certain years as far as mounting goes. What are the year splits and what are the differences?Im looking for a 63.

I don't think there was any difference in mounting or general configuration, just in trim. I think the interior headliner was different in 66/67 tops, and I think they also had vinyl-covered exteriors.

63 and early 64 hardtops are different externally. The difference is in the small "cut out" or relief on each side above the back of the doors.

This relief cut out corresponds to the pad vs. non pad door handle doors. 63's and early 64's up ??? used the doors which had the pads under the door handles. They then changed the doors....no pads, different door handle, etc., and the hardtop lost the cutout.

I don't have a picture. There are also variations in the rear window mounting. Chuck
