Hi all,

My 2001 C5 odometer reset somehow, great for resale;), but not relectant of the actual mileage, I think it shows like 5,000 miles when actually its been somewhere more along 30,000 miles. Anyone had or heard of this problem?? Any help will be great!!

Also does anyone know if I have lost my acurrate mileage? Or does it have some sort of backup odometer that is not digital? (what a great lesson in how some things are better off being mechanical and not controlled by a STINKIN COMPUTER!!!)

thanks

I wish I could help you on this all I can do is offer up some guesses. This is the first time I have heard of this one. Maybe someone will chime in that has experienced this one.

Have you recently let the battery run down?
Has the car been worked on by a mechanic?
Has the computer been reflashed lately?
Have the gauges been replaced?

Like I said these are all guesses.

No,I've never heard of it happening all by it's self!;shrugIt usually happens in a dark warehouse somewhere with some sophisticated equipment and is punishable by federal court up to 20 years!!:L:L:L

haha, yea, no I am not trying to fool any1, plus this car is never going to be sold!! .... As far as the guesses go, no none of those things have happened. I do have some sort of electrical problem in the dash though that cause my voltometer to "say" that I have low voltage when I actually dont, and this seems to cause some wierd issues with my blinkers, odometer and trip odometer... i dont know, I'm stumped.....

I know the numbers don't add up, but make sure you on miles and not kilometers.

no I have never tried that, i will look into that, is that diagram in one of the full service manual books? I am also going to try the battery, I have seen some posts on here that seem to link the battery and battery terminals to electrical problems. Also, does anyone know if there is a built in mechanical odometer that is not run by the computer?? or tied to the electrical system?

Not on trip A or B.

DING! DING! DING! I think we have a winner here.

Bob, tell him what he's won!

Bob: Uh, not a damn thing, other than possibly knowing he's helping Studevette sleep better at night (and not in the same way that Mrs. Studevette helps him) :chuckle

sorry, I'm on a LOT of cough syrup today. :rotfl
