Mirror Mount

Can anyone tell me the thread size and diameter of the mount fasteners for the interior mirror for my '65 roadster? I think they may be 10-24 machine screw but I would like to know for sure before I run a tap thru them.

Man, you ask hard questions!! How about using a thread guage to check the screws? If you don't have a thread guage, find a nut that fits the screws and then use it to check which tap goes through smoothly.

Hey Mac; It wouldn't be a problem it I had the screws. There were sheet metal screws holding it on. They were working pretty well but I have since found that they are in fact 10-24 so I'm gonna run a tap thru them and install the correct screws.

I wish I could recall which tap I used on mine. Mine had a screw in it that had the head busted off, so I had to drill it out first. Talk about sweaty palms and a few grey hairs. I had the correct screws so I just "eyeballed" it against the tap and tried the tap in the good hole first. Somehow I managed not to break or scratch anything and it worked out fine. Classic
