Hi

Up to now l have kept my 96 100% stock but lately l feel it's time to either sell it and move up to a C5 or make some easy modifications to put the smile back on my face.

My thoughts;

Can l change the ratio of the roller rocker arms to help!

Change the exhaust!

Change the rear end to 3:50 something

The nickel and dime mods l'm really not interested in. I want to feel the difference and l do not drag anybody. This is for my own satisfaction.

I would also like to hear the approx price for parts and installation. It must be done by a pro only.

The difference between selling my 96 and a 2000 would be 5-$6,000 tops and then worry about if l had to put any money into it.

What l will get out of it???

Six shooter

Are you talking about horsepower or how much l will get from selling it?

Selling is a tough one.

If l decided to sell it, l wouldn't have a problem and would try and sell it to a buddy or a relative first. Even a club member. I'm realistic about price's and as long as l find a C5 first then parting with the C4 will be easier.

As far as price's today it really is based on condition, mileage and if anything is needed. I feel that my vette is in excellent condition, another person might feel it's even better. But coming on 10 years old, it's still 10 years old in my book.

maybe when the weather changes and the sun comes out l will change my mind. If one of my son's wanted it, l would just give it to them but they have no interest.

I just thought that if l made a few changes l would be thrilled once again and it goes against my grain to modify a vette in any way.

I guess it's just mental masturbation.

You need to take your sons in to have them evaluated for sound minds. Turning down a vette ? There has to be something wrong there. lol
want to adopt me? ;LOL

I drove a 95 with a 3:73 rear end, long tube headers and cat back system. Higher pressure fuel regulator and the usual small stuff.
It was noticeablely stronger feeling than my 95, that was mostly stock.

Only problem was he would smoke the tires where I with less power would dig in and go. The parts were around 2K. Installed in his garage. Dont know what labor would have cost but it was a pretty big change in seat of the pants go. The car seemed to pick up enough to need better tires or a good surface for the start.

His best time was around 13 flat, mine was 13.4. (At RP)

Giving it further thought!!!!!!!!!!

My son's have no interest because one lives in New York City and it would probably cost besides the normal insurances and up keep indoor parking which is now approaching $500 a month. Insurance almost $275-$300 month.

The other lives in Ga. with a wife and two young ones.

The most intelligent thing for me to do is sell it at the end of August and pick up a C5 over the winter.

The most ideal thing for me would be trading my C4 with a C5 and add some money. 99% of the vettes at auction are leased and the owners just abuse them to death. And my 96 would be lucky at auction to get $12,000 if it was even sold. Most dealers of vettes only want the C5's and there are a whole lot of them out there.

A local BMW dealer has a black 03 Z06 with 26,000 miles, asking only $32,000 and would take less for sure. King BMW, Freehold, New Jersey.
