Modifying T-Top to fit on 1976..

I bought 1978-1982 glass tops for my 1976. Ive heard from many places (and the place ive ordered them from) that i can make them fit my 76 with minor modification. Anyone got any instructions or guides how to make 1978-1982 glass tops to fit a 1976? Thanks!!

I am assuming that your car is t-top already, if it's not, I apologize for this message.

I have a 76 t-top vette also, and I was looking ad getting glass tops for it too. I don't know this for a fact, but I believe if you change the hardware, (handles and such) they will fit.

When you find out for sure, I would love to know.

I beleive there are a couple of simple mods that have to be made at the back where the top attaches to the rear c piller

Remove the triangle headed bolt on the rear, and the glass tops should lock on. On my car I had to adjust one of the rear brackets for a good fit. This is an easy job, - 10 or 15 minutes.

Tops are the same. Hardware and locks are different. My advice would be to purchase the '76 assembly instruction manual (AIM) if don't already have one, and any 78-82 AIM and compare the two installations. AIMs will show you the differences between the two installations.

Reminder: glass tops sit higher in the rear than fiberglass tops. Don't try to muscle them down to fit like fiberglass. They're temptered glass but they can and do break.
