Hey all--
I am thinking of molding in fiberglass replacement bumper covers for that seemles look on my '78. I have heard that this can lead to stress cracks as the bumper settles. Can anyone substantiate this? I thought the fiberglass covers would be much more solid than the stock urethane. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Well all I know is that the bumpers were molded in on my 80 and it was used as a daily drive. I didn't noticed any cracking in the bumpers at all.

I molded in the bumpers on my Daytona and the Daytonas are known to get stress cracks even without being molded. That is becuase the front ends have the extra size and wieght than stock. I reinforced the seams both top and buttom and add a couple of extra braces in the support the nose. I haven't noticed any problems yet, but I don't drive the Daytona much.

Well anyway if the job is done right I don't think you should have any problem.
Good luck and if you do it post some pictures. I'd love to see them.

Yeah, I am already sealing up the hole for the radio antenna. I wanted to smoothe out the lines, and I barely listen to radio stations (although I am going to use an internal antenna and a satellite radio antenna). I am also thinking about shaving the badges for a totally nondiscipt look, but I am still struggling with that one. I will have to talk with the body man to see what he thinks. Thanks for the input!

One of the regrets I have of not doing during the frame off is that I didn't smooth out all the seams. I really like how the front end looks on this 76 coupe:
