Replaced rear wheel bearing ass'ys a few years ago. Got them at Mid America (not the China cheapies) and no thrust washer was in with the bearings. Now I am getting the clicking from that area - could the old thrust washers be giving out? Ordered some from GM. 87 coupe has 73k miles. Any advice from those who have been through this - I am not looking forward to re-doing that job, but it looks like I have to.

Thrust washers do not come with the rear wheel bearings. On both my 1988 and 1989 I just reused the same thrust washers. I would first check for bearing play and retorque the wheel bearing nut.

thanks for the reply - will try retorquing. No bearing noticeable bearing play. Where in Buffalo? Moved to Memphis from Buffalo after being there all my life.

Amherst. Been a long winter, so it is great to have the vette back out on the road.

Cool, if not scored. The clicking is a symptom of play, I have learned.
