motor that lowers headlites won't stop correctly

My headlites on my C5 go up & down correctly, but the left one, when closed, has the little motor run for about 10 extra seconds before shutting off. Any ideas before I run it in to the dealer. thanks in advance.

That is a common problem with C5 headlights. I had to replace the actuator once in my 1997. There are also replacement gears available, or you can just switch out the actuator. It is not too difficult for the shade-tree mechanic.
