muffler: high temp paint?

I noticed at a used Corvette lot that
some of the C4's have black LT1 mufflers,
whereas mine are an ugly steel color.

I'm supposing that these blackened mufflers
where just painted that way with high temp
paint.

Question: Is there any detrimental effect to
painting the mufflers black with high temp paint?

I would think the mufflers may be a bit hotter this
way, I'm not sure what that will do...

My stock mufflers were black (the same color as the tips)... I don't see any detrimental effects to painting them... you can use high temperature grill paint to paint them if you want yours black... You shouldn't have any trouble finding the paint at a home improvement store

PS, maybe you have an exhaust system already, and didn't know it? i think the walker mufflers are silver, with black tips!

No, no part of the muffler/tip
is black yet, it is ugly light gray.
Like cast iron or something.

The car came from the factory with the tips and mufflers painted flat black. There is a service bulletin on the paint peeling off. I repainted mine with out door grill paint just as vettelt193 stated and they came out great. Chuck

Hi out there..
I have painted my whole exhaust system a year agao. No problems. Wen it is dirty i djust spray a litle paint on it. Looks great.
