Why is everyone replacing thier stock mufflers and fighting this resonance and droaning problem

I saw you post on CF. I personally like a little resonance. I wanted my car to have a muscular sound.

More sound, better looks, stock ones broke. Flowmaster 50s, very little resonance, I like the sound, so it actually sounds good to me.

My '88 has holes in the Y pipe. I'm thinking of doing a cat back replacement. I'd like a nice throaty v8 sound, but not a 16 year old's ear splitting noise. I could loose the droan too ... it would sound better without that I think.

Any recomendations on what muffler and y pipe to use? I've heard a y pipe with a crossover helps the droan delete issue.
