Hello. Thought of installing a multiple spark ignition control on a -78 L82.
Any advices for type, brand, digital/analog. Am a little confused here, reading that some types are not for carburetted engines, or...? :confused

I'd strongly suggest MSD, google them and I'm sure you won't have trouble finding their website. As for which box to use from them, I would guess possibly a 6AL, but don't just take my word on that, give them a call and talk to them. They will make sure you're getting the correct unit for your needs.

If the engine in your 78 is stock or near stock, you will see no performance gain with an MSD compared to your stock ignition system in good condition.

On the other hand, if your L82 is substantially modified---say 375-400 horsepower or more and runs at 6000 rpm or above, then the MSD (as suggested earlier, a 6AL) might be a good idea.

Thanks, browsed their sides, and think you pointed out the best one for this purpose. Due to bad english, (all the words seems to disappear when I´m talking in the phone), I´l stick to the 6AL.

O.k. - I´v ordered a performance intake, pypes racing exhaust, long tube headers. Planning to install a roller next winter. But it will not be a high RMP engine, will go for torque and low end hp in the range of idle-5.500.

Maybe in that case I´l do just fine with the stock HEI? :beer
