Hey everyone,
Im kinda new here..and then kinda not. ive been registered awhile but havnt posted in a long time. My name is John Paul Pearce, im 17, well..18 in June, and im about to purchase my first Corvette. right now i have a 1980 Trans-Am that im selling to help buy it. I have found a white on black 1994 Vette with chrome 9 1/2 in. ZR-1s. it has power drivers seat only, 1 top (solid), auto, and climate control with 117,000 on the clock. the guy wants $11,000 for it. the only thing you could really say is wrong is it needs new tires. if some could help me out and run a carfax on it i would really apreciat it. the Vin is 1G1YY22P4R5112102. any advice at all would be great.
Thanks in Advance,
John Paul Pearce

If I were you ... Take it to a mechanic and make sure nothing is wrong... Just to be safe...

Hurry up and print it because the link won't stay as that car forever. :)

WOW... $11,000 for a 94 with that many miles, 3 previous owners, 2 accidents with moderate to severe damage? And you can figure to spend between $160 - $300 per tire to replace. I wouldn't pay that much. IMO I would look for another Vette or, at the least, throw him a low offer.

I'm not trying to dampen your fire, but I think there are better deals to be had. I got my 93 with 62k miles, no accidents, already had some upgrades, and I am the 3rd owner for $12k.

Good Luck!

Police Report
Case #6564305
Accident Reported
Involved right front impact
or collision
Severe damage reported

That would concern me.

This would also concern me:

12/21/2002 Alabama
Police Report
Case #2139918
Accident Reported
in Mobile County
Involved right front impact
with a curb
Moderate or severe damage
reported

I would stay away from this car. He's asking too much for a vehicle with 2 accidents and with 117K miles.

Even if he accepted a much lower offer, you need to make sure the problems were taken care of properly.

Even if you made a lower offer and he accepted, beware that you may spend more time fixing this thing than you would driving it. That will not make your first Corvette experience a very pleasant one.

I agree... two severe dingers to the right front... I'd drop that car like it was yesterdays breakfast. You can and will easily find a better car. Not worth your money for any reason if you plan to keep the car you buy for any length of time. Now if you are going to mod the car and race it... that's different. Then I'd low ball him and provide a copy of the Carfax.

Did the seller tell you about the wrecks? Would seem shady if they didn't.

I'll agree with Edmond and 74bigblock, too.

Forget that particular car. There's way too many vette's out there for sale. Take your time and get the "right" one.

Good luck!!!

I can't believe that I got two people to agree with me!:L:L:L

I wonder what "severe" means, though? It would be up to the officer who filed the report. I wonder if the case number would yield any information?

As an aside, I ran a CarFax for a buddy at work on his pickup truck. CarFax reported no accidents, though he said it has been in about 8, several of which had police reports taken.

Could it have something to do with whether an insurance claim was filed or not?

By CarFax's description, "servere" is when A) the car can't be driven away, or B) There was serious injury.

I'm willing to bet the car couldn't be driven away.

PS. Edmond, I'm still waiting just for one person to agree with me!!! :L

Edmond and all the other folks here are dead on. I would not walk but run from this car. You can definetly find something with lower miles, and with no collisions to buy.

Chris,

I think given B, you can assume that A exists. What is this, philosophy?:L If someone was injured, that means that the impact had to have been significant. And to have two accidents?

Either way, this car probably has some hidden problems that would be a big PITA to fix.

Corvette's are expensive to repair.

Oh yeah, those are the only two people to agree with me!:L

Plenty more cars that are in much better shape to choose from. I wouldnt touch it at all!!!
