When I first crank Her up She has a little whine like noise for a few seconds.Kinda aounds like a Power Steering Pump Whine. After a few seconds or so it's quite as a church mouse with no steering issues at all..Anyone else experience this.? Could it be the beggining of a PS pump Failure? No leaks at all also.

Sounds like your talking about the smog air pump and a whining noise could be considered normal. Mine does...

Is it the dreaded morning sickness? Back when my car used to sit outside in below zero temps it would do the morning moan, a fluid swap with synpower power steering fluid shut it up. Problem is, I believe it was discontinued.

(I just did a search and it was discontinued and the new formulation is not synthetic) I guess when its time for another change I'll have to find something else

Whine after start-up could be the aux. AIR pump, previous posts discuss. To find out, open the hood, start the engine, then get out and look in the left front corner of the engine compartment, ahead of the left front wheel, that's where the pump is and you should hear it running.

If the whine became noticable because the AIR pump got louder, it could be the pump is going out or the filter is clogged.

It is also possible what you hear is power steering. Again, before a cold start, open the hood, start the engine then go listen to see if it's the steering pump. If you hear the pump whining with the engine at idle and no load on the power steering, check the fluid level. It might be low. If adding fluid or changing the fluid does not eliminate the noise, then you are probably looking at power steering pump replacement. Don't put it off, because if the pump is failing, metal debris may be getting into the fluid and that may, also, damage the steering gear. A steerting rack will cost a lot more than a pump.

Hib: If it were the PS Pump wouldn't it whine even after it warmed up? It's only for 5 Seconds or so that it does it.

Morning sickness is when the rack is hard to turn immediately after cold start up

I guess when its time for another change I'll have to find something else
This stuff gets a good rap:thumb

When my car was stored outside in sub freezing conditions it would make a noise like the OP was talking about. Changing the fluid with synpower fixed my issue. I don't know whether the wheel was hard to turn or if the rack was sticking because I'd let it run for about 10 minutes before getting in to drive it....(in order for the ice to melt of the windows and get a little heat into the cabin.)

I appreciate the lucas recommendation but I'm out to find an replacement for synpower which was an inexpensive high quality synthetic power steering fluid. (I spend time at high rpms and like to continue to have the protection the old synpower gave/gives me )

Cajun C4 did you isolate your problem yet?

Nonot yet. My Good Buddy Jep is coming over so He can be right there listening as soon as I crank Her. It only lasts a few seconds.
I'll let ya'll know what we uncover.
