...well, almost.

You'd think there wouldn't be too many next to BWI airport crossing an expressway ramp @ 715 am (daylight).

But there they were--1, 2. I wondered if there were more as I was approaching, assumed not or they would've crossed already. There was a long time between 2 and when I approached.

But, just as I approach where the others crossed--3.

Brakes (and Hawk pads) did a good job.

Guess my exhaust is not too loud or Deer would have heard me coming. Man, he was scared __less, he stopped in the middle and looked both ways and then continued. Not a good instinct.

86 Corvette vs Deer(s)

I'm glad you were lucky, I had the same experience this Monday am (4:30) in Nashville Tn. I was near a mall on a back road and I saw 1 deer, knew there would be more but could not see any. All of a sudden 2 are directly in front of me. One jumped anc almost cleared the car hitting only the drivers side flip light. I was not so luckly with the second. I hit it directly in the middle of the front bumper. The bumper support is bent (gaps wrong), the passenger side flip light is completely gone, inner fender broken, and severe scratches up the hood, windshield and right quarter.
Good thing is no fiberglass damage that I can see and I will get an all over paint job.

Gotta love good brakes. The only thing better than going fast is being able to stop fast.

That'll wake you better than coffee... I've seen a number of deer on/around I-97 this fall; wonder if they're out more than usual. I also see a LOT of fresh skidmarks and accident signs on Rt. 32 nearly every day near wooded areas - wonder if they're also all deer related.

I did see deer fairly often in the winter when I worked near the airport, Andy; there's apparently enough wooded area left around the Patapsco River to support them.

I have seen a number of them over the years but have been fortunate not to have any encounters with them.
Brakes. Good, but not always. I hear stories of them coming up over a bank and running into the side of the vehicle.

I know they frequent populated areas. Bear also.
I suppose all states have large animals of some description to deal with on the highway.
Please post if "U DO NOT" have. Or if 'U DO" if " U WANT TO"

Very first night that I had my corvette out.....a deer runs out in front of me.Luckily I wasnt going too fast and was able to miss him.Ten minutes later........a groundhog decides to tempt fate by running in front of me. Didnt hit him either. Whats with these crazy animals anyway.....they all want to go out in a blaze of glory caused by a vette? ;shrug

Not in a vette, but funny you should mention them running into the side of a vehicle, Bob. I was following my Dad up to our hunting camp above Tyrone on Sunday, this dumb doe comes running out of an open field at 11:30 in the morning. I mean she was flat to ground scared witless until she took that final leap about 15 feet from the road and hit him broadside right in front of the right rear wheel.

Wiped out the whole side of the bed and dented the rear door on his new Tundra, he dang near wrecked trying to get the truck and trailer back under control. Not a good start to hunting season. Stupid suicidal animals.

Bag of rocks--have to agree.

Rich,
Hi!, how is your project?

About the airport--I was surprised and still am because with the development, there really isn't much woods left. They were running from one small patch of woods to another (2-3 acres each? not much left)

I have a story much like Berky... a number of years ago, I'm on my way to Cape Cod for vacation with my gf. I have a car I had just bought a few months prior, and some insano deer nose-dives into my pass fender :mad It came out of the woods, I never even saw it. He ruined the fender, the hood, and bent the door. Not a good way to start a vaca.... man was I ever ****ed :r

I'd have to agree.. especially in NJ, there are way to many dumb deer. There isnt a day that goes by that i dont see a pack or two. Every time i see one i picture myself pulling out a pistol and protecting my car from these mindless animals, open the window, fire before they reach the road! ahaha.. :(

My dad also was struck BY a deer. It came out of the woods, ran parallel to his car, apparently tried to merge lanes with it, and then bounded back into the woods after leaving a broken headlight, a dented fender, and some fur.

A friend was driving near the UMBC (University of MD, Baltimore County) campus, a place with not a lot of forest, when a deer came up and PUT ITS HEAD THROUGH HER CLOSED PASSENGER WINDOW! It then also ran away...

Andy, there are a TON of woods around the airport - mostly over by Amtrak and Race Road, and near your folks (Airport Square and River Road). I think they come from down there, looking for food, and get lost in traffic.

How's the project? Coming slowly... everything is apart and I'm waiting for stuff from the port guy. Also have to shorten the cam pin and put it back, but I'm waiting for the proper timing gear to arrive first. My garage is covered with parts...

This is the only reason I like the NRA. Hairy bastards... they hump like bunnies.

last month the same thing happened to me i was on my way home from work doing about 80 when a buck ran out in front of me. so i did'nt hit him strait on i swerved because there were no other cars on the road i hit the buck right were the corner plate meets the door. after i finished spinning out in the median i was for sure my car was trashed. when i got out to check all that happend was 3 crackes in the mirror and a scrape about 1/8 inch wide and about 1-1/2 long right on top of the door. needless to say i felt pretty lucky that night

maybe I should start hunting by the road:L
I was in my tree stand for most of 4 days last week and pushed several large woods and the only time I saw any Deer (other then opening day) was when I was sitting in my truck eating lunch:cry
