ECM progress - replaced ECM # 3 it works but --

Cold start problem - engine starts -choke set - fast idle then it stalls - like a lean condition.unplug distributor ecm harness or coolant sensor and it runs in open loop without the engine stalling. When engine is warm and ecm goes to closed loop it runs great.Problem exists when engine is cold - open loop.

Parts replaced
oxygen sensor, coolant sensor, dist.module, ecm, egr and pvc valve ,new carb.

Any suggestions;help

Are you sure it's a lean condition? Put your hand over the choke valve and is it idling better? Did you also check if the choke valve is set correctly?

Groeten Peter

Yes - choke ok - move choke butterfly towards closed ok - choke and relay are checked ok. starving for fuel until i unplug sensor stated previous.Carb not getting proper open loop signal?

The choke butterfly should shut completely when the engine is cold.

I replace the Map ( vacuum ) Sensor and cleaned that terminal connector.Experts state a bad sensor or sensor connector.Since unplugging any sensor during cold start -it would run open loop ok.The ecm was not getting the open loop condition .The coolant and map sensors are a part of cold start - setting proper dwell for rich or lean conditions.Well 81 back on the road. Thanks for the support
