I was driving my 2000 coupe today and noticed after I arrived home that my oil priessure guage on the dash showed 80psi, the DIC said 110psi and the HUD was at max. I'm thinking it's a pressure sending problem. It will go into the dealer tomorrow. I did a little research in my mechanics manual and it looks like the sending unit is under the intake manifold. Do you think that replacing the intake manifold with a new performance one would be a good idea while the work has to be done, and if so, do I replace it with a Z06 or other brand? any of your ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Ron

Sounds like the sending unit shorted out, as to the location it is placed just behind the intake manifold. The bad news is that intake manifold has to be removed in order to access the sending unit. Also make sure the mechanic has experience with the LS manifolds, there is a small vacuum line behind the manifold which is hard to reinstall and if not seated properly it will develop a leak and the whole process has to be repeated. Good luck.:w

If it reads 80 psi ignition on and engin off, you have a bad sensor. There are several DIY on the subject. If you want to know what is involved, go on my web site and scroll down to "Remove Instake Manifold".

Thanks everybody, I took it to the dealer and they had to replace the sending unit. How can a little part like that cost $150? Anyway, I considered replacing the intake manifold with a Z06, but the part was so expensive $700+ I thought I would be better off putting it into something else like exhaust. - Ron
