On my 66 of course :D

I always noticed that the right rear tire sits in the wheel well deeper than the left rear. Taking a tape measure from the rear bumbers by outside tailight to ground, the right rear is lower 1" than the left side (18 1/2" to 19 1/2"). Front wheels seem pretty even.

Were do I begin to look for the cause and what's the worst case scenario I'm looking at? ($$)

Thanks in advance

Take a look at the spring from the rear and see if it looks flatter on the side thats sagging.

if its not the spring then i would look at the body mounts to see if one is rusted or improper. but if it really off an ich I would hope its a worn out spring

I would look closely

With the springs on our Corvettes attached at the center, as compared to regular cars, it is quite possible that a leaf on one side could be damaged, or broken, without adversely effecting the opposite side.

That side would then appear to be lower then the opposite side

You really have to look closely to observe a broken leaf, it's only a very small thin vertical line. ;squint:

Ha, only two years later and finally addressed the problem. I had a new rear spring put in from Eaton Spring with new mounting hardware. The car sits a little high for my taste in the rear, but I guess I could live with it.

What I can't live with is this: I got the car back today and the car still sags to the right! About a full 1 1/4" difference between right to left. WTF! Had the body mounts checked. Didn't seem to be a problem. What am I missing here:mad

back to basics...is the spring sitting flat on the diff?

are both end bolts tightened the same amount?

Kid

The right side of the spring is more horizontal than the left. Bolts look tightened the same.

It looks exactly the same as before I changed the spring, except the car sits higher now.

Shocks? What else should I be looking at here? :confused

Probably a soft front spring. Do a search over on the C1/C2 forum at CF for user "Kensmith"; he recently went through EXACTLY the same thing you describe, and it turned out to be a bad front spring. :)

Did a search for user kensmith but nothing pops up:confused

I agree....a weak front spring may show itself at the rear.

Similar irritating problem with mine is that the passenger side wheel sits further out of the arch than the other. I don't know whether this is ajdustable

thanks,

that thread helped.

I just noticed that the body mounts at the rear of the frame, noticeable by peeking in the rear wheel arches have a big shim difference. 5 spacers on the side that sits high to 1 on the other side. Possible culprit?

I will see about doing some measurements as outlined in the thread.

Keep in mind, if you add or remove shims from the body mounts it will probably change your door and fender gaps also.

I would check you front springs first.
