Need any information on the strike years during the C3 era. We have a 1971 coupe LT1. It does not have the smog box, charcoal cannister, all numbers match. Does anyone know how many prototypes they had through the strike? Does anyone know anybody who used to work at the St. Louis plant? How many CJK's are thereAny information would be helpful and appreciated.

Hi Rock Crusher! Welcome to the CAC!! I hope you take the time to create a thread in the New Member Introductions forum!

In many cases, smog equipment was treated like garbage and toss at the earliest opportunity in the hope of improving performance.

Are you looking to purchase the requisite parts to replace the missing bits? If not, perhaps I can move this thread into the technical area of the C3 forums as opposed to the "parts for sale/wanted" forum...

Welcome to the site. Maybe one of the mods will see your post and move it to the correct section.

There were no strikes affecting Corvettes in the 1971 model year, they affected the previous year's production by delaying introduction of the 1970 model year by a few months.

Not sure what a 'smog box' is but all '71 Corvettes had a charcoal canister as well as several other anti pollution systems. These were federally mandated to meet smog regulations- no cars were exempt.

The CJK code is for base 270 HP engine with auto transmission, not LT-1. It was introduced in the latter part of the production year replacing the code CGT.
