Anyone else experiencing abnormal (even for mid-late model GM's) rattling and squeeking sounds from their Vette? I have a 2004 C5 and can't get rid of this annoying flaw. Any suggestions and insight would be appreciated!

I have a 98 w/ 50k on the clock and other than the fuel pump whine and a creak in the top (which I fixed) it's quiet as can be.

You say "center dash". Do you mean the console are, the front center of the dash (AC, radio area), or the dash pad itself? And is it constant or only on bumps and such?

These answers may help others to figure out your problem.

MY 97 had that rattle. turned out to be a CD. once it it was ejected No Rattle. and the CD was ruined. I was real close to removing the entire dash to find that rattle, Thanks to my wife all is well,

The creaking is coming from the front center of the dash, around the AC vent and top of the stock radio unit. The noise comes out even on slightly bumpy roads, but gets especially bad over highway and/or 'top-off' driving.

I also thought it may be from a CD in the dash, but leaving the CD player empty doesn't help...

Thanks...

A long shot - I had a rattle in my 1999 C5 coupe from the day I bought it new. I swore it was coming from the center or left side of the dash, and was worse with rough roads.

One day when I raised the hood, I saw the passenger side hood hinge "lift" where it was bolted to the front frame (near the front of the car. There are two studs and the hinge plate is fastened to the frame with nuts). I found both nuts loose and tightened them. The driver side hinge nuts were tight and not loose.

Once I tightened the loose hinge fasteners, it eliminated my "dash" rattle.

I hope this helps - good luck.

Can you push on the dash, radio, etc to "damp" the squeak? That might help locate it. I had that in my '97 and never really tried to find it. I had the stereo on so loud that I could not hear it!
