NCRS Needs help from Callaway Owners

The National Corvette Restorers Society is preparing to add Callaway B2K Corvettes as the next series of Corvettes to its "Flight Judging" program.

For those who may not be familiar with the NCRS, it is a group of Corvette lovers dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the Corvette. Given that the Callaway is such a unique piece of Corvette history, this is a great way to collect and document data on these cars.

Michael Pierce of the Northwest Chapter is heading up this effort, and would like to enlist the help of all Callaway owners to begin compiling information. If you have original paperwork or other documentation or other useful information and are interested in helping out with this effort, please contact Michael at 'largeblock@aol.com'. He is attempting to document every B2K car built, so any data showing the VIN number would be particularly useful. Michael is also available by regular mail if you have any copies that can be sent to him at:

I know that Callaway Cars has been contacted directly and is working towards this goal.

Mike Zoner and I were discussing this w/ a gentleman at Carlisle last month and the goal is to introduce up through the 1989 Model Year (last of the flat dashes) to judging.

The NCRS recently added 84-86 this year. As model groups are added, they usually try and break them down by generation - originally they did 53-62, then added 63-67, then 68-82. My guess is that because the C4 run was a long one and because the cars are so much more complex than the older cars, that they are taking smaller groups to ensure quality - but that is just a guess. I'm a long time NCRS member, but haven't been directly involved in the adding of a new group.

Chris' post that they would only be doing up through '89 was news to me. I'll try and get that confirmed with Michael - he didn't say anything about that .

Yeah - this is what I was told at Carlisle - the "Flat dash" was the designator although it may make sense to include all the B2K's as Kevin stated - esp. since we are talking about 100 cars only

Folks, an update.

I received the 1987-1989 and 1990-1991 books from NCRS President, Vito C., while at Carlisle last week. Upon initial review, it is clear that they are based mostly on data pertaining to the 1987 model year cars. While there is some data on later cars, a large part of it is incorrect. hnoes

My promise to Vito C., was to review the manual, make notes, have data then reviewed by the staff @ Callaway Cars, and supbmit for changes. This will take some time. :eek

In the meantime, if you are having your Callaway judged, you should KNOW YOUR CAR. If there is something that you know is right, the NCRS will listen. IAlso, I have drafted some letters on behalf of owners in the judging process to help clarify some points already, the NCRS judgin team should be aware of these points already. :cool

HI GUYS , I HAVE BEEN JUDGING ON THE C4 NATIONAL TEAM FOR THE NCRS, CHRIS IS CORRECT ABOUT THE JUDGING MANUEL IT WAS WRITTEN BASED ON MICHEAL PEARCE' S 87. AS OF THE WEEK AFTER THE BOSTON CONVENTION IN JULY , MODEL YEARS 92 + 93 WERE ADDED. THE NEW JUDGING MANUELS ARE BEING PRINTED . I WORKED ON THE PRACTICE SESSIONS AT TWO REGIONAL EVENTS. ALL MODEL C4,UP TP 93 ARE ELIGIBLE TO BE JUDGED INCLUDING CALLAWAYS.
AFTER MY 89 B2K HAS BEEN THROUGH THE NCRS SYSTEM TWICE, THEY HAVE ALOT MORE INFO AND PICTURES FOR THE REVISED MANUEL. THEY HAVE ASKED ME TO CONTINUE SHOWING MY CAR AND GO FOR A MCLELLEN AND THEN A CROSSFLAG

Jon, that is correct. Only the Twin Turbo cars at this time, 1987-1991.
