When I converted my 77 from an automatic to a 4-speed, I always had the problem of the clutch not disengaging until the pedal was almost to the floor board. If you barely lift your foot off the floor board, the clutch engages. I have tried to adjust this to give me a little more room before engagement, but it has never been enough. I used new stock L-48 parts and I was wondering if using the longer ball pivot on the clutch fork would help or hurt my situation. I would like to be able to let the clutch pedal come up a inch or so before it engages. Anyone have any ideas????:confused

Although I did not get any suggestions from anyone, I did find out what my clutch problem was.
The nut that holds the "cross shaft lever" had almost backed its self out. I retighten the nut down and the clutch release point realigned its self. I think I came across someone writing about their cross shaft coming loose and that’s why I checked mine. I am going to "Lock Tight" this nut as soon as I can find some old clothes.

I did it in 1981 when the price of the parts was less expensive. I took the auto 350 out. Took the dash out and brake master cylinder and vacuum booster out. Had the cross shaft welded in place. Installed the clutch pedal and safety switch. New starter, bell housing, clutch, transmission etc. With a removable cross center bracket, this was easy. I also replaced the rear-end with a 3.55 ratio. This required a different gear drive for the speedo. I have since gone back to the 3.08. (Better mileage) Access to weld the cross shaft for the clutch pedal was a stinker. It was arc-welded. I love the 4-speed and if I had the $$$ I would go with a 5 or 6 speed. I do not know if it would be this easy.
Good luck.
