Took my upper & lower front control arms to my local machine shop to get old bushings pressed out & new bushings pressed in. They did the uppers ok, but while installing the bushings in the lower control arms, they virtually destroyed both of them. They are so deformed, I don't think they can be saved.

So here's what I'm looking for.... Does anyone have a rebuildable pair of lower control arms they are willing to part with? My car's a 64, but I think they are all the same from 63-82.

Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul,

Sorry to hear about your misfortune at the machine shop.

Unfortunately I do not have a spare set of lower control arms, but check out this place http://www.corvetteusa.com/suspension.html
The offer rust free southern parts. They might be reasonably priced.

Let us know how you make out. I have been watching your project progress with great interest. I have done quite a few body off resto projects and love to watch them come together. Keep up the great work and keep posting updates so we can all enjoy it with you:D

Regards,
Brian

Brian, Thanks for the link. I know the shop didn't destroy these on purpose, and it's a little old guy who runs the place. Kinda feel sorry for him as he about fainted when I showed him the price of new a-arms. Used will do for me, as this is a driver, not a show car.

If only.

Roger, if you're reading this, I volunteer to "drive" the 12-mile L-88 anytime. :bu

:eek  :BOW

No prob on the hijack... I've done it myself many times I'm afraid. I've looked at all the retailers, but most want to sell reconditioned/rebuilt A-Arms with a $75 core charge on top. Since mine are wasted, that may prove to be a bit expensive. I'm looking for used rebuildable lowers. Found one set on eBay so far. Will see where the price goes in the next couple of days.

Barry,

I believe Bob was being sarcastic about them all being drivers :D

As to not hijack your thread Subfixer have you tried vansteel:

Doug

Thanks for the info. it was interesting reading!
shame the original engine had been pulled. even though a proper replacement block is in the car, It makes you wonder how much more the car would have brought at auction with the true original factory installed block in it.
