I am not a big guy but I wanted a little more elbow room in the 65. I moved the column in as far as it would go. Better but could use some more. I tried a couple of differant steering wheel, 69-82 Corvette comfort grip and a 65 Chevelle wood grain but not what I was looking for. I finally found my solution. A GM restoration part. 16" diameter, same as stock but has a dish of just under 3" instead of the 4 1/2" of a stock wheel. Wood grain plastic, rosewood not walnut, but not bad looking. This is a GM restoration part for a 1969 only Camaro, optional wheel. Origonal wheels run $1500 up. What do you think?

I like it as well. Do you have a part number and price you could share?

good find, do you have that part number and cost?

Part number is 3960722.
Here is a link to the GM restoration part http://www.gm-restorationparts.com/...sp?PartID=27974.
I paid $220 @ GM Carlisle, new in the box. I have seen them on Ebay for the low $200. I understand the finish on some wheels are better than others. I would suggest having it in your hand before you lay the money out if possible. You need a 67 Hub or a spacer on the 65-66 hub due to the middle spoke underlaying the other two, as a stock 67 wheel does.

Sorry, I am going to be a little dense for a moment on this....I have a '64, what would I need to do to make something like this work? I have the originial teak wheel that is in great shape and wouldn't something with a little more room with it.....let me know...thanks, Herb

The shallower dish will move the wheel about 1 1/2" forward and slightly downward. If I had an origonal teak wheel I don't think I would change it unless I wanted to keep it nice for shows and use the other wheel for day to day driving.

To use this wheel on a 64 you would need to use a 67 wheel hub or a spacer. I am actually using some SS washers right now until I find a 67 hub.
