Hey guys. I have a 96 LT4 but I figured id get more views on this end. My car has 102000 miles. My clutch jus started slipping. I have a lil bit more hp than a stock motor. This is pretty much my everyday driver and I'm looking for a clutch kit that would work for me. Im not the richest guy so money is a concern to an extent but I'd like to know if anyone has ideas of a clutch in my ballpark. And as far as I know it still has the dual mass flywheel and hopefully I'll be able to reuse it. Thanks guys for helping

There are no free lunches as far as clutch parts go.

Yeah, there's a lot of cheap stuff...most of it junk, the rest of it marginal...available from high-volume retailers, Internet sellers and eBay, but you're best to go with either McLeod Racing or OE GM.

I have McLeod Racing clutches in all of my Corvettes which have manual transmissions along with one in my Camaro DD.

As for your dual mass, it's rather high mileage, but the later design units, if not abused, can be reused. It's best to have a service shop familiar with the late C4 clutch/trans combo assess the condition of the DM flywheel. If yours is faulty, your repair bill skyrockets. If you can find a replacement, they're very pricey.

What about flywheel options? Aluminum or steel?

Clutch

There are no options for a dual mass except a new clutch we will be selling in September for $599 that is a correct conversion kit from the OEM supplier. If your original flywheel is still serviceable, then a replacement clutch assembly would set you back around $399. If you're looking for a cheap clutch, then I'm afraid your out of luck.

Does McLeod carry a single mass compatible with their clutches?
I have heard good things about Carolina Clutches not sure which brands they market however.
They do have a single mass steel flywheel that would be my pick when my clutch starts to go.

I have heard horror stories about SPEC and some others.

Just how durable is the stock GM clutch, in a stock appliaction but with racing intentions? I think Valeo makes it?
