Need a seemingly hard to find part!!!

Hey ALL,

The car is a 95 C4 convertible.

The part I need is the "colored" leather covered piece on the hatch shaped like a "u" that you put your hand on to close the hatch.

Does anyone know where I can find a new one?? I just bought the car and the piece is in rough shape. I tried the dealer but no luck.

It's easily removable and you can probably get your's recovered fairly inexpensively if you have to.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that piece appears to actually be vinyl and not leather. On my '93 vert it is a vinyl material.

That said, I have not seen that piece for sale anywhere. You may want to try an upholstery shop and see if they can give you a real close match.

Not sure what you mean by "rough shape", but there is a leather/vinyl kit available that works well on seats and other leather/vinyl parts:http://www.leatherrepairkits.com/

The kit comes with everything needed for repairs including factory matching color. I have used it on seats and the results are professional.

As RubyRed wrote, you are working with vinyl, not leather.

If you could post the GM part number, as well as color needed, or any other specifics, I’d like to call a few Chevy dealerships in my area to see if they may have one hidden away somewhere.
