1987 Medium Blue Metallic Coupe
Hey everyone! I've found an '87 B2K and the ad says it is car #2. It is the dark red mettalic/graphite coupe and it has the 17-inch Dymags. The car has 58K miles and the photos look good. Some questions:

1) Would the wheels have been added later? I though only the 16-inch Dymags were available until later in '87.

2) If this is indeed #2 (one of the first 4), does this mean it would have the 4-bolt truck block? Is this a big deal (pro or con)?

3) Are the miles anything to worry about? What are some signs of turbo and transmission health (or sickness)?

4) Any other advice/wisdom to share?

Thanks!

Hello -

re: the 1987 #002 car, the Dymags were offered by Callaway to owners of earlier cars as an upgrade as I have come to understand it.

The car being #002 does mean it would have the truck block - it may/may not mean much now, we'll see how history plays out over time on that tidbit...

Miles? I know of another guy here (Magic Dragon) w/ an 87 who has appx. the same miles - no issues. He maintains his car nicely - that would be key :cool

wisdom to share? A car in that ballpark (IMO) should be very nice - to excellent.
There should be no loose seams in the interor or (paint) overspray to speak of. Engine bay should be clean, very clean. ( I saw the car in June 2005 ;) )

Thanks! What was your impression of the car when you saw it? Did you drive it?

Other questions I thought of in the meantime...what about the '87s having some unique, one-year-only items like the turbos, etc? Is this a potential problem for parts availability?

Love those NACAS

Just restored my 87 & all parts were readily available from Callaway except exhaust components.(they have an upgraded system)And you will have NACAS.:D :DUnique to the 87.

Upon seeing your 1987 Callaway, I have to say Tony, it is one of the most amazing 1987's I have EVER SEEN! :eek - it is in pristine condition!

Hard work & elbow grease paid off :cool :m :v

Thanks

The restoration was easier than I expected and as a result I became very familiar & impressed by the engineering of the TT engine. It is a piece of art, especially considering it was all done in 1987.Getting the approval of my work by Zoner & Wayne the other day was especially gratifying.Time to:Steer
