In the photo below is a brand new molding for my car. If you notice the letters, I am assuming are supposed to be white, are not. They seem to have a film over them from the manufacturer. Its like the same film you get when you but new tires with white lettering. I have tried whitewall cleaner, scrubbing with a toothbrush and some other detergents to no avail. Does anyone have a solution to my dilemma or are the letters not supposed to be pure white?

Jon,

I'm sure someone with that kind of moulding will chime right in, but I don't think they are supposed to be white!!

Someone in my club with an 1984 just had a local re-paint the letters. Very time consuming. I think he paid $40.

I don't know of a better way to get them clean.

I did a little research on this years ago when I bought my 88 and I found out they are supposed to be a light or med gray color. They would look better white .Currently yours looks like a red X,but I know what your talking about.

Yep. They're supposed to be a lighter grey color. Mine is the same way. I don't know.......I've always liked it that color
