ok im am trying to change my side turn signal bulb it looks like i have to take apart the car to do so has any one changed their bulbs is there an easy way of doing this without having to take off my wheel and stuff? just wondering usually i find a step by step instrutions but i cant for this :(

turn signal lights

This is not an easy task. I bought the GM service manuals just so I could get directions and diagrams to do this kind of job. They cost about $125, but you can often find them for less on the net. I paid $75 used for the 3 volume set. They have more than paid for themselves.

owners/service manuals

I did not mean to suggest the owners manual would be of any help. GM produces a service manual for use by the service technicians at the dealerships. It details how to do repairs, services, etc for the car. You can buy the three volume set from GM, probably Ecklers, MidAmerica, and other sources. The retail cost for the service manuals is on the order of $125.00, I think. The advantage to using them is that they show where all the screws are, tell what order to remove things, etc. This may not be helpful for you, but they did help me. I replaced a headlight motor using them, for example. I should have replaced a burned-out running light at the same time, as it was really easy to get to with the headlight assembly out. It is still burned out, but I think I will get at it from below, by removing a close-out panel etc.
Good Luck

thanks jim

I know what you are talking about .. I just need one for a dummy

Dummies books

I with you , C5 Chick. Those books are great ... brings it down to the basics. I just wish they had it for C5 general maintenance!

Wait, maybe that is something we should put together and become millionaires (or at least make enough to buy a C6)!

Didn't you know?...that part number is 00000001, the rest of the car is built around it.

repair manuals

There are Chilton repair manuals that cover through the C4. Perhaps there will be a C5 one soon.

very funny

on both things i believe it is built around one part my bank account lol and yes if we all got together and make a dummies book we could all maybe get a c6 that would be nice :L

hey c5 chick!

1st of all, invest in a set of rhino ramps. These are car ramps that are plastic and wide enough to accommodate the c5 wheel. Then, carefully pull the car onto the ramps; they have ample flat space at the tops to position the front wheels safely. When you get the car up, take a 10mm socket and remove the plastic cowl cover from the side of the car you wish to replace the marker bulb. When removed, you'll see the connectors and should be able to swap the bulb or bulbs. Finally, the ramps will pay for themself if you do oil changes or such. And don't forget to chok the back wheels? Ohh the joys of working on your vette. It almost seems you have to in order to understand this vehicle. Good luck from a patron from the east too. DE. to be exact. les c 97 coupe
