Need help on a 66.

A friend at church told me this morning that he knew of a guy wanting to sell his 66 vette. The vette is a multi-show winner (not sure of the number of trophies but I believe there could be as many as 15 or 20). Here's what I know;

It's all original - interior, engine, transmission, everything
has 68,000 original miles
has been garaged kept
has won several shows

What I need to know is about how much a 66 in that shape is worth? Will try to get more information but for now if you have a guess, please let me know.

More info is needed, coupe or convt? options? full owner history? NCRS awards? Bloomington awards? color? currently located in?

Otherwise I'd guess between $10 and $100,000.

Thanks for the reply. My friend found out that it is a coupe and that it has won over a hundred trophies. All he found out about the trophies were that some were for best engine, best exterior, best interior, and best body. He's not sure of all the trophies but a few.

He saw the car yesterday and said it was an off shade of white.

I'm thinking about going to see it this weekend. What should I look for and what should I ask?

...And how much 'you' want to spend is somewhat determined by what you want the car for...A daily or weekend driver or 'pure show' car with all correct numbers...That difference can be 'thousands'...Now me, I just love driving around in my not so perfect vette and still getting all the "nice car" comments from people even with a blemish here and there...They're just damn fun to drive...
 
All depends what you're after. Trophies are given out at "show-n-shine"-type shows, which generally favor workmanship, modifications, appearance, and cleanliness, not originality; these cars, although very nicely done, appeal to a smaller market, and have much less value than a more original car. NCRS Top Flight or Bloomington Gold cars get their awards for originality and quality of restoration workmanship; they don't have "trophies" to show, but are worth far more on the market than a modified car due to their originality and potential for value appreciation as they age.

There's no economic justification for buying a Corvette (they're for enjoyment, not investment), but be aware that a "modified" car (especially a mid-year) is worth significantly less than a more original unmodified car of the same year - that's just the way it is. If the car isn't original, I wouldn't pay a dime more for "trophies"; some owners put a lot of money into modifications, and some choose to put a lot of money into restoration. Neither will get all the money back out, but the restored car will always be worth more to potential buyers.

They are worth whatever someone is willing to pay. I have a '66 roadster w/both tops, factory ac, ps, pb, knock offs, teak wheel, leather and 61,000 original miles. The original color has been changed from Irmine White with Saddle vinyl interior to Rally Red with Red leather and a Tan soft top. It also came from the factory with a 427/390 hp, but the block has been changed to a 454. This weekend at the NCRS Regional event in Orlando I turned down a $37,000 cash offer. My car is a good "Show 'n Shine" car - not a "points car". It's all in what you want. I'm not in to the "judging thing". Those people make me CRAZY!!! Those people, likewise, go CRAZY when they see a car like mine that is not EXACTLY as it came from the factory. Again, it's all in what you want. Get something you will enjoy.
