I have found a 73 bright yellow corvette convertible, 4-speed, with a 454 big block engine. Numbers match. It has 79,000 original miles. Power everything, and AC. No rust, paint is beautiful. All emblems and chrome bumpers are like new. I would appreciate it if any of you guys or gals know how many of these cars were built with this combination of motor, trans, convertible, etc. and what would be a good estimate of how much this car is worth. If nobody knows where could I find this information. I would very much appreciate it. Thank You

It's pretty tough to tell exactly how many cars were built with any given combination of options. Books like the Corvette Black Book will tell you how many of any SINGLE option were built, but I don't know of any reference that will give you all the various combinations.

You can do some estimating by extrapolation. For example, in 1973 there were 30,464 cars built (25,521 coupes, 4943 convertibles). Also, there were 4412 cars equipped with the 454 engine. 4412 is about 14.5% of the total production. If you extrapolate that to the number of convertibles, you come up with about 716 convertibles built with the 454 (14.5% of 4943). Definitely not an exact number, but I believe that's as close as you'll get. Some other build quantities of the options you mentioned (all of these are from the Corvette Black Book, by the way):

M21 4 speed: 3704 cars equipped
PS: 27,872
PB: 24,168
PW: 14,024
AC: 21,578

Another really 'rare' one was the cast aluminum wheels. According to my book there were only 4 cars delivered with them.

Hope this helps some.

If it is in good condition Anywhere between 15-20k is a fair price according to my Corvette Price Handbook. Sounds like a sweet ride.

Thank you guys for replying, and your info, a guy told me that they made 309 454 big block, convertibles, but that was for a automatic, the one I found is a 4 speed so it must be even less than 309.
