I am trying to put my car back together and I'm finding that the previous owner must have canabalised it. There are no light sockets or anything else on the back of the cluster. I bought a new Gen/low fuel lens and a seat belt lens. I see in my assy. manual that there is supposed to be a low fuel module? If so, are they available anywhere? I also see in Eckler's that a '77 doesn't have a seat belt lens. There are provisions for lights in the back of the cluster on that side. If there isn't a lens for seat belt what goes in that hole in the bezel? Can someone either send me a picture of a complete cluster from the back or reply with some info? If there is supposed to be a seat belt lens, what keeps it in place in the bezel?

I have my dash apart right now doing the same thing I'll look tonite and see if I can help out..It is all org.I do know it has a low fuel, seat belt,..the lens just sits in the bezel and the inst cluster holds them in place.

The mounting plate for the gauges is about 1 1/2" away from where the lens is in the bezel. If I put the lens in and install the gauges, the lens just falls out?

Art,

you should have a white assy for each side that holds them in, it is about the same shape as the opening and takes up the space from the inst to the bezel.

There were no white plastic pieces in mine. I called Cont. Corvettes in Pa. and they sent me two of them however, they look like they are both for the Gen/low fuel side and they are different in that one has a gasket and two **** to hold the gasket in place and the other one is just smooth on the backside. Should there be a deeper one for the seat belt lens?

I’ll get a pic tonight when I get home.it is kind of hard to visualize.

You should have the black bezel, clear lens the two idiot light lens two white spacers or filler parts to take up the space from the inst. Cluster and direct the light to the idiot lens and the inst. Cluster.

Hope this helps..best I can come up with right now....

Just called Contemporary Corvettes in Pa. where I bought the white spacers. They are going to have the guy that pulled them call me and we'll go from there. As far as the low fuel module---are they only available from a wrecking yard? I can't find any info on them anywhere.

Try these guys..Corvette Country..770-461-5211..they may have the parts...tell them Steve told ya...:) I think they have a complete 77 center assy.

Thanks for all the input!!!!! The guy from CC just called and we found that he sent me two for the same side. Now all I have to do is determine whether or not the original owner ordered the car with the convenience group to see if I need the low fuel module. It's all fun and games isn't it?

any way to get at the tank build sheet?

I'm probaably going to drop the tank this weekend. If I'm lucky the build sheet will still be there! If not I can search and see if the car has the courtesy light timer, headlight warning switch, etc. If so, it probably has the convenience group. Many thanks again, ya'll are great. I'm sure this isn't the last time I'll be crying for help. I've got the car down to a body and frame with the gas tank, steering column, and wiring. Looks pretty bare at the moment!

Cool post some pics if you can...I have a link on my home page to my 77 project.

I don't know how to post pics. I've got a digital camera but have never posted any pics before. My company computer is set up with pop-up blockers so I can't pull up any pics that are in the posts now, BUMMER!!!!!!! I don't own a computer at home (my kids say we live in the stone age). If someone can give instructs I will try.

I don't know if this will work or not, but we'll give it a try. These are a few pics of my mess. Also, the horn for the anti-theft system is suppused to be on the driver's side of the firewall. I found one mounted under the driver's side rear fender? The wires are coming out of the stock harness. Could this be the alarm horn?
