Need help with a C5 code

During winter storage, my battery died (I had a tender on it, but that's another story). Anyway, I am getting the P-1631 code for incorrect password and it kicks in the anti-theft system so the car won't start.

I had the same issue one other time, and I eventually had to take it into the dealer so they could reprogram the chip at a cost of almost $100. It probably took them all of 5 minutes to download the software into the car. All of my other codes have been reset and stay cleared.

Without dropping another $100 at the dealer, has anyone else ever had this problem and is there another solution? The dealer who sponsors our club actually gave me some ideas to try, but they didn't work. And, no, I don't own a programmable controller, so that won't be an option for me.

Thanks ahead of time for any and all ideas/input.

Thanks, Carl. I already had that infirmation, so I ended up taking it to the dealer. They did exactly what they did last year and still couldn't get the car to start. They had to go all the way back to square one and reprogram the BCM before they could reprogram the PCM. And I got the same results, too - the car runs, for $100!
