Help! Need help with windshield wiper

When washing my C6 for the first time today, I raised the passenger side wiper too far off the glass, heard a pop, and a spring popped off! It is a really STIFF spring, because I could not stretch it far enough to re-attach. This happen to anyone else? Do I need to buy a new wiper arm assembly now? Meanwhile can't drive the car or else the wiper will flop around, I'm sure.
