Can anyone recommend a business that does good work on Vettes in SW Subs of Chicago?
Well, I have enjoyed my car for 2 years with no issues until today. Stopped for gas and noticed oil leaking from front bottom area of engine. Hadn't driven in a few weeks so am thinking a gasket has failed on me. This is something I can't fix myself so am looking for a reputable repair business. Have read too many horror stories from some of you who take car into dealers or others. Thanks!

I dont know where the place is exactly located but I heard D&M Corvettes is supposed to be pretty good. I bought my 71 from Chicago and had some receipts from them. The prior owner seemed satisfied. Im sure some locals will chime in if its a good place or not

Thanks for the reply. I know where D&M is located and it is a little farther away than I would like. I am south of there in Orland Park.

most corvette shops do not work on C4's, except maybe basic stuff..... You can try either Imperial Automotive in Chicago Heights (dont have their number now but dan and the crew do good general maintence on cars) or you can call Power House Performance Inc
15552 South 70th Court, Orland Park, IL 60462
(708) 342-0043 but they mainly do C5 and C6 stuff and may do basic c4 maintence. Good luck.

There are a bunch of auto shops in Mokena and also in Tinley Park. I don't know if any of them specialize in Corvette work but the SBC is quite a common engine so there should be many shops that could do a good job on it.

What is the extent of the leak?

Edmond, thanks for the suggestions. I will probably take it in to an automotive repair shop that does work on my other car. They don't specialize in Corvette, but as you say, the engine is common and am thinking the leak is basic seal repair, so it should be easy to fix.

As far as the extent of the leak, it is a fairly steady drip when the engine warms. Stops when cold. Have searched the threads and it could possibly be narrowed down to seal failure in common areas such as, intake or front crankcase.
Thanks again!
