I have a '70 Convertible that came with an unrestored hardtop. The hardtop have a vinyl on the exterior that is in decent shape but the interior (headliner) is missing.

I would like to restore the top but I haven't been able to find any pictures or available parts through the usual sources.

Does anyone have some pictures that they could send me of the interior of a similar top. Also, does anyone know where I could purchase the parts if available?

Thanks in advance.

Jeff

I know this is not the NCRS answer, but if it was mine I would spray it with truck bed liner material. That would give you a durable testured surface. You can even have it mixed in different colors. I would also guess it would make the car feel more solid as it would cut down on interior road noise.

Chris,

How heavy is the liner? It can't be all *THAT* light, could it?

I don't know how for sure you could measure the extra weight, but it should not add much. I am not talking about the 1/3" thick rhino liner, rather the 3/16" to 1/4" thick Gator or other comparable brand liner that is shot with a body shultz gun.

I have it on my convertible top decklid in the area where the top covers and seals when it is up. It makes for a trick durable look.

Hi Jeff, I have a '72 conv. and mine also came with the original hardtop. My liner is also missing. I've already replaced all the hardware and I'm going to get a new headliner soon. I purchased all the hardware from Corvette Central. They also have the headliners. It's a three piece set p/n 133645.

Good luck,

John

I've never personally seen the 3 piece set sold by Corvette Central. It sells for $300.00 plus as I recall. The original 3 piece liners "snapped" on using those "velcro like" pop grippers. The liners are vinyl covered over a fiberboard like backing. Chuck

Hard Top

Thanks John,

I order the kit. The exterior vinyl is white but the interior of the car is saddle. I was thinking of changing it to saddle.

What color is the exterior vinyl on your top. Does it match the interior color?

Jeff

Jeff,
Cool, let me know how the headliner fits in your top. I'm in the middle of my rear suspension rebuild/upgrade so the the cosmetics will have to wait on my hardtop for a bit.
The exterior color for my hartop is black vinyl. Which matches the interior. The ragtop is white. I like having the option of the different color tops. Each gives the car a different look.

save the wave,

John
