Howzit & Aloha!! Sorry for intruding on the C-5 side of this forum, but I have a friend with a C-5 who needs some info about a Zo6 intake swap over, and I thought that I could get more answer's from the C-5 side then I would on the C-4 section!! So, heres the few questions........Like I had mentioned earlier, my buddy has a '99 C-5, and would like to know a few things before switching from his stock manifold, over to a Zo6 manifold, or 2001 or 2002 ( He thinks it is the same manifold), Is there any specail things that he needs to do, in order to make the switch? or will he just be able to take one off, and put the other on, just like that? also, is it possible to do the switch without haveing to remove the valve covers? and is the intake able to be painted? Next is a little more technical, He would like to know the part number & brand name of the up dated knock sensors?, since the ones that came stock on the car in that year were defective.... to sinsitive I believe, so there was a recall on the sensors. Mahalo for him (thank you) and for my self, and again, sorry for the intrution on your C-5 side. :beer (This is his car by the way!! We took picture's of our cars at the same time and place!!)

Hi there,
PLease bear with me, that there is alot of information here.
First, yes, he is correct, 01-02, being LS1 or LS6, are all the same manifold.
2, there are a few other things that would need replacement here. It is called a vapor bleed pipe, and it is under the intake. Now, some people just notch the underside of the intake, so that they do not have to pay for them. I would just replace it. Attached to this post, is the diagram of the 99 air bleed pipe.
Attached to the following 2 posts, will be first, the front air bleed pipe on the updated design, and the second is the rear air bleed plugs.
Other than that, there is not much else that you have to worry about.
As far as your sensors for knock, located in the valley, seen in any of these diagrams. This is incorrect. There have been revisions, however, this is to actual voltage ranging, and not to sensitivity.
Please remember, it is not like the old days, where knock was just seen, like your L98. This is a new style, which learns internal engine noise, and remembers. Then, if the noise gets over a predetermined level, knock will be sensed.
With that, check the attached, and let us know. If you purchase a brand new intake, your gaskets will be with the manifold.

Mahalo (Thank You). My friend and I really do appreciate your continued help!! You are a Top Notch person!!! Aloha!!

Are there any differences to do the same to a 2000 LS1?

Go to http://www.slponline.com enter part number 30039
click on instructions and print out a four page document with pictures and instructions and part numbers for the LS-6 intake swap out.

intake manifold

What are the power gains going to a Z06 intake manifold over stock manifold = are there any aftermarket ones that are even better?

SLP has an LS-6 intake with all parts needed; GM has the manifold but you have to order all the parts needed plus the intake. GM has a longer lasting warranty, the only difference.Holley has an aluminum intake, but heat would be my question. It's my understanding that you will gain appx. 15 hp. OH YEA, SLP's intake kit is 100.00 cheaper than GM's. If you need the part numbers from GM for the kit parts, just post. Good Luck

I would like those part numbers if you would be so kind to post?
Thanks, this is a mod that I have been thinking about for some time, and I started comparing the prices, etc.
You mentioned SLP vs. GM....are there any other vendors that I should consider?

Thanks again!
Ron

Check www.slponline.com for part # 30039. It is the same manifold as GM and cost less. You can also print out a detailed set of instructions on how to install this product from the same vendor. Good luck. If you want the GM numbers I will look them up. This kit comes with everything you need without the hassle.
