On my 89 I have a glass Targa top. I later believe it to be an Astro top.

So, I need to take the top to someone to reglue the glass down. How do I get the plastic ring trim off? I'd like to get as much removed as I can before I take it to a shop to get it glued back down. Is there anything I need to know before I have someone do this? The main thing I'm worried about is the shop getting the glass lined up correctly.

I called Melrose to find out what glue they use, and they would only tell me structural urethane. Got any ideas what that is? I'm gonna take it to the dealer body shop tommorrow to let them look at it as their glass man said he doesn't have the stuff to reglue the top.

I glue them all the time!!:thumb

Is that a 2 part or 1 part? And how long have the ones you done held up? I've heard of people regluing theirs multiple times with different glues only to have it start seperating again. Then they end up having to get a new top.

From what I've read, you need a 2 part. I'm taking it to the dealer tommorrow to see if they think they could reglue it. I figure they could at least be able to call GM to find out what the OEM sealant was. As I know it looks like it is hard to find something to get Acrylic to stick to metal.

It's all in the preparation,If it ain't clean it won't stick no matter what you use!! Be sure to wear latex cloves,or you'll have to ware it off!!!:thumb:thumb:thumb
Ask "LT4Man"!;LOL;LOL;LOL

Well, the dealer decided they aren't gonna fool with it cause they don't know 100% what to use. The manager said he called someone and GM didn't specify what to use. So, I guess I'll have to look around to find someone to reglue it.
