1980 Red T-Top
I have a few spots on my 80 original Red paint--- along the nose (geez) and a couple gouges that need to be painted (size of a dime) as well as the edges of my T Tops. I am having a paint mactch done so I can get the right color, but I need advice about how to prep the spots, paint it right and try to make it look better at 10 feet.
Can anyone give me advice and best process to fix these.
I'll try to post pictures of the spots later tonight.
Thanks
Floyd

I have been touching up little chips and spots on my red 82 by wet sanding the clear coat around the spot about 1 ".
Then priming with an airbrush, and filler to level it out. Wet sand to the edge of the spot. Then color coat overlapping the original paint and feathering the paint at the edges, then clear coat over the whole spot.
Wet sand to level the spot and rub it out. Good as new from 3 Ft. away. The airbrush makes it easy!

Works great for small chips but you have to follow the directions exactly. It takes a very light touch. The best cloth to use is an old lint free 100% cotton white dress shirt.

It is also sold by Mother's wax at local auto parts stores.
