just bought my 1st vette! got a sweet deal (i think). the guy was teaching a lesson to his son who got the front end crunched. so, he put it up for sale for a mere $6200. no structural damage, just fiberglass and radiator. he had done a frame off on it. re-worked the frame (no bends), did some upgrading, comp. leaf, urethane bushings, etc. basically did a high performance job on it. as for the motor and tranny, check this out.....complete re-build of TCI tranny, bolted to a 355 rear end. rebuilt and balanced 350 engine with a few goodies:
292H competition cam, roller rockers, hydraulic lifters, steel crank,
pink rods, 202 valves, all supplied fuel by a holley 750. rated with 10.5:1
compression. runs great, no smoke, sounds like a racer!
a few other goodies are: drilled and slotted rotors, hooker headers, and one sweet sounding borla exhaust. the interior was completely redone with leather seats. one thing, the clock didn't work (boo hoo). anyway, rather than plopping down a grand for a front end, i actually got a door-to-door front on ebay for $275! done fiberglass and paint before, so that's not a big deal. other than my time, i figured that i'll put about another grand into it before it's done. there is one thing, no shoulder harness belts. i know there has to be a thread on this forum, but theres almost 200 pages! so if someone could point me in the right direction for that, it would be appreciated. i am interested in the camaro/firebird belt option. just need more info.......

happy driving!

:) Welcome, have fun and enjoy. Post some pics of your new toy if you get the chance.:cool

wgm87 - Welcome to CAC.

I don't have an answer for exactly what you're looking for, but I do know of another option if you want a 5 point racing harness setup (and you have a coupe - not a convertible). Check out www.vetteworksonline.com and look for the Shark Bar. Below is a cut and paste from their website.

Semper Fidelis,
Culprit

Vetteworks is the Manufacturer of the C3 Corvette harness bar "The Shark Bar ™ Series- 1 that installs in '74 thru '77 Corvette coupes without any major cutting or modifications to the interior. The Series-1 harness bar will keep its occupants securely in place while autocrossing or road racing and meets NHRA & SFI standards for harness bars using OEM seats. The Shark Bar™ series 1 brackets attach to the existing seat belt anchors and doesn't block access to the rear compartments. It aligns the belts to the proper angles, while the OEM seat belts are still functional. The anti-submarine (crotch) bracket can be purchased with a mount for an Amerex fire extinguisher. If a 5-point harness belt is needed for the passenger side, Vetteworks offers an option passenger side 5-point lap/ crotch belt bracket assembly with or without an extinguisher mount. The Bar requires a 3" aftermarket 5-point (individual style) belts . A billet Shark Bar camera mount is also available and will fit other 1-1/4" OD harness bars. The Series -1 harness Bar unfortunately will not work with convertibles. All The Shark Bar™ Series-1 come with a detailed installation instruction manual. All Shark Bars are powder coated gloss black. Contact us for Any custom modification are needed. Plans are in the works for a harness bar the Corvettes ('68 thru '73).

welcome to the CAC, best d@m% bunch of people around. somebody always will have an answer to help you.
i bought a pair of 4-point harnesses on ebay for $75,took about a month to find a pair brand-new,but well worth it!

Culprit, i hope you're keeping you head down and your Kevlar underwear on! i do worry about you! stay safe and bless you for your dedication!!!

Thanks Robin! They may itch, but yes, I'm wearing them. We're fairly safe in the compound where I'm at. It's guys like UB2SLOW that are working outside the wire who are in more danger than I. They guys over here are all doing a great job - working hard and getting things done.

With the money I'm saving over here, I think there's going to be a Keistler 5 spd under the tree when I get home with my Vette's name on it! But, shhh, don't tell - it'll be a surprise.

wgm87, I'm sure a couple more folks will be along with some more ideas for you.

Semper Fi,
Culprit

thanks guys

i appreciate all the help i can get. i don't think my wife would like a racing harness (even if she does need one!) what i 'm really lookin for is a basic retro fitted lap and shoulder set up. maybe later i'll put in the bars and harness stuff.

thanks again!
