Maybe Im over reacting but Im anew 95 corvette owner on my 4th week of ownership.I didnt drive it for a couple of days and I saw some smoke/light bluish come out after start up Not alot and its cold here in New York ...its the first time I noticed it...Is this normal for the LT-1 ? The 95 has 44,000 miles on it.
:hb

I picked it up at a dealership (Ford) they said they will change the oil as a prep deal...will the plane jane oil do that...I'll have to make sure its mobil 1...I put only 1000 miles on it so far....

Puffing a little smoke?

hehe ---- Puffing a little smoke now a then depending on the situation and the company. hehe :)

Now that IS a bummer isn't it. I dropped a post about a week ago about the same thing. My comp yel c4 has 18K on the clock. I've only ever seen it puff once. It is a GM mystery!

BTW- You are going to get paranoid over this to the extent that every time you start up you will look for that little puff in your rear view. Don't say you won't, cause you definitely will!

Puffy

My 87 puffed smoke from 45,000 miles, I finally got sick of being embarassed and replaced the valve stems last weekend.

Problem solved!

Good luck

Everyday vette

It could have been just a little oil seepage into the combustion chamber. Don't worry about it and just keep an eye on it for a little bit.

Also are you sure its blue? Or was it just a little puff of condensation from the cooler weather?

Worse case could be Valve seals but I doubt it the car doesn't sound old enough or miled out.

Has this vett been stored or not run for any length of time??? This can be the cause for this as well.. What happens is while the car sits its seals such as the valve guides dry out and crack as a result oil seeps into the cylinders over time from sitting and when you start your car up you burn that small amount of oil which results in the smoke..

Re: Puffy

Vrotate,

How much did that job cost or can you do it yourself? Mine puffs on start up as well. I'm tired of looking in my rear view for the smoke to pop up.

Thanks,
Anthony

Thanks everyone....I changed my oil and filter Monday with mobil 1
It seems to have stopped ...I let it sit for a few days and nothing puffed out...I also used a fram oil filter ....I dont think that the dealer put mobil 1 in it (dealer):r I came up on some ricers last night they were pretty quick NO match for the vette...

Im on a month and a half of ownership...EVERYONE WANTS TO RACE ME.
Why do the ricers always want to race...? Half of them have daddy or mommys old import with a coffee can on the back....

Is this normal for us corvette owners ..race race race?

They got something to prove you don't is basicly it man.

Alot of people think Corvettes are the fastest thing out there and therefore if they beat a Corvette they have a story to tell all they're friends.

Have fun with the car, if you want to street light race go ahead if not don't. If you want to take it to the track for a little fun go ahead. point is your never done racing because there's always someone new on the block who wants a "I beat a Corvette" Story.
