New brakes - upgrade

I was considering an upgrade in braking systems. I'm looking for pros/con, experiences, with Baer, Brembro, Z06 brakes, or anything else you guys might have.

The C5/Z06 setup is alot better than the brakes on the late C4s, but still has some fade in extreme racing.

I talked to a guy with Wilwood brakes on his C5, he says they are wonderful compared to the stock setup, like night and day.

If you road race at all skip the C5 calipers. Alcon or Brembo set up will cover you.

C4 vs C5 brakes

It is interesting that people are so interested in the C5 brake upgrade given that C4s and C5s seem to have roughly the same brake performance looking at the raw numbers.

One thing I do know is my C4 brakes require surprisingly high effort. They stop quickly, but you really have to put your foot into it. This may result in the perception that (lower effort?) C5 brakes are stopping you more quickly.

It looks like going to the aftermarket kits improves performance, but at the cost of increased maintenance.

He races at Road Atlanta, whatever it is that they do down there.

I've driven that track, and it is a very easy track but you can push the car very hard. Especially with the elevation changes.

Skip the C5 upgrade and the entry level baer, go with either a Alcon or a Brembo set up, might also check into a Wilwood system.
