Sorry if this has been covered lately; I'm one of the new guys.
My 89 is in need for new leather seat covers as well as I will need new carpet. It's a convertible with Saddle interior. Looking around I can find several suppliers for these; but I figured you guys would have a good idea who has the better quality or cost....so I'm asking who would you buy from?? Thanks.

I dont have saddle...have medium grey...but they apparently differ by vendor...Corvette America had the EXACT color of my 84 seats but Mid America's was WAY off. My originals had a metallic silver look but MidAmerica's were the plain medium grey used in later years. They even had the audacity to give me a hard time returning them trying to get me to pay for shipping! They told me mine "we old and faded and the color changed" and I was wrong! :eyerole
Funny how Corvette America got it right then!

Thanks CorvetteArchives, thats good to know regarding color discrepancies between suppliers. Thats the type of information I was looking for. Maybe other members will chime in regarding cost and where they got their's from.

you can get a carpet kit and if your foam is good find a local shop that can recover the seats. you get more choices and probably would cost less then buying the skins

Thanks dolbnyc, I wish I had a shop that could make up the covers. Around here they want me to buy the covers and they would install them on my foam. They are asking $300.00 to install...for that amount of money I think I may try to install them myself. I guess I'll try Corvett America for the carpet set and covers, I've used them before for other items on my C3's and they were good .
Thanks Guys appreciate the feed back.:)

I bought the leather mounted seats from ecklers and they are stiff as a MTHR-FR. So, I am going to the local auto-upholster to find out how much they would charge to take off and put the covers on the old foam. I would like to try to do it myself but, i am a little nervous they won't be taught enough. Has anybody done this? And can you give any advice or tips before i attempt it! :confused

THANKS :w

From a year ago....http://http://www.corvetteactioncen...erica-seat-foam-too-hard-color-wrong-too.html

"Removing the old seat covers was SUPER EASY and recovering them was even easier!!:thumb
I seriously think all that HOG RING HORROR was total BS engineered by seat manufacturers. One vendor in their catalog said something like.."its nearly impossible to save old seat foam when removing the old cover...so buy our new stuff". Yeah Right!
I swear it took no longer than 20 minutes to remove each cover from the foam and even quicker to reinstall it!

I used wire snips to cut each old hog ring rather than try to pry them apart. Using needle nose pliers the rings removed from the foam in 2 pieces.
Naturally the exposed ones on the back were easiest. After doing those, I flipped the lumbar pad and headrest leather off the foam to access the tailored side creases from the top and snipped those rings withour ANY damage to the foam.
This was just as easy on the new foam despite it being "tighter". The new cover was a snap to install on the old foam.
I was surprised how quickly I reinstalled it. It really was one of those "why the heck didnt I do this originally?" moments.
I bought a kit with 250 rings and really nice pliers on ebay for just $22 and now I sit IN the seat instead of ON it!:rotfl

I know that the foam despite being in very good condition now may actually wear out in another 10 years. By that time I figure they will either get the density right by then or I can buy a used set of worn seats from folks who bought new foam and have have worn it in.:chuckle"

Went to Funfest in 08. I will be getting my carpet and new leather on foam form Mid America Motorworks. I toured their facility and got to see/feel cutuaways of their products. I have never had a problem with them.
